Description

What's Covered in This Manual

This is the Repair manual (TM2267) for John Deere's big four-wheel-drive 9230, 9330, 9430, 9530 and 9630 tractors. Being an articulated four-wheel-drive design rather than a standard two-wheel-drive tractor, this manual includes sections you won't find in a smaller tractor's repair book - most notably Section 95, Hinge and Gudgeon, covering the articulation joint that lets these tractors steer by bending the frame in the middle rather than turning the front wheels.

Two different transmissions are covered, each with its own full section: the 18-Speed Power Shift transmission and the Mechanical Shift Transmission (MST), the latter broken down into its oil filter relief valve housing, control valve housing, pump, front cover, Hi-Lo clutch and brake, Hi-Lo planetary, traction clutch and gear drives. The axle sections are split the same way, with a standard Axles section and a separate Double Reduction Axles section, each covering the input housing, differential, final drives and brakes for that specific axle type - so check which axle your tractor actually has before following either section.

Beyond the driveline, the manual covers general information and engine repair, fuel/air/cooling with oil coolers, the electrical system, drive systems (engine coupler, drive shafts, PTO clutch and drop box), steering and brakes including secondary steering for Western European tractors, and a hydraulics section that distinguishes early tractors from CAN-controlled machines for the hitch valve and selective control valves. The operator's station section covers HVAC, the air suspension seat, and the ACTIVE SEAT option. At 1,052 pages, this is a complete reference for one of John Deere's largest tractor platforms.
