This manual (TM1537, dated 26FEB02) is written for the John Deere 710D backhoe loader. It's the operation and test half of the set; disassembly and rebuild are in the companion repair manual, TM1538. The 710D went through at least one running change during production: machines up to serial number 830204 ran the John Deere 6059T turbocharged diesel (86 kW/115 hp net, 5.884 L, 6 cylinders), while serial number 830205 onward switched to the 6068T. A separate change at serial number 872256/872257 affects the electrical system diagrams and power train diagnostics, which this manual documents as two parallel groups so you pull the right one for your machine.
Full machine dimensions are included - digging depth, reach, loading height, dump clearance and more, broken out for the standard dipperstick and the extendible version - along with digging force figures for both the bucket and crowd cylinders.
