This is the original factory Service Manual (SM-2035) for the John Deere 2010 Series tractor line, copyrighted 1962 with later printings updated through March 1965. The 2010 Series was offered in three body styles - Row-Crop, Row-Crop Utility, and Hi-Crop (with the Hi-Crop version providing 34-inch ground clearance) - and in three engine fuel types: gasoline, LP-Gas, and diesel, all built around the same vertical 4-cylinder architecture displacing approximately 145 cubic inches.
The manual gives each fuel system its own dedicated section since the fuel delivery hardware differs substantially between them - gasoline, LP-Gas, and diesel fuel systems are each covered separately, with the diesel version using a distributor-type injection pump and a compression ratio around 9.0 to 1, considerably different from the gasoline and LP-Gas engines' spark-ignition setup. Four glow plugs assist cold starting on the diesel engine, a detail the manual covers in the engine and electrical sections.
Beyond the engine, the manual covers periodic lubrication, engine tune-up and tractor adjustment, the engine clutch, the drive train, brakes (located differently between the Row-Crop/Row-Crop Utility and the Hi-Crop configurations), the optional hydraulic system and 3-point hitch, wheels, tires and weights, and a trouble shooting section. For anyone restoring or maintaining a 2010 Series tractor in any of its body styles or fuel configurations, this manual provides the complete original factory specifications and procedures.
